PORTFOLIO > VISUAL BIO

Together, in the early 1970s, they started a wholesale business and showroom of beads, jewelry, clothing and textiles imported from the many places they visited like South America, Africa and even China. They frequently visited Guatemala and had personal relationships with weavers and their families. Like this photo, we have hundreds of images from my grandparents’ expeditions. They were world travelers returning home with what I thought as a child were exotic treasures. I hope to do the same with my own business.

My grandma was always dressed to the nines with flaming red nails and red hair to match. People thought of her as an Auntie Mame type character even though she was a tough businesswoman and hard worker. Her lively conversation and unconventional beliefs were a constant source of stimulation and support to me.
